Sarah and Andrew Elson, the husband-and-wife team behind Berry & Oak, are determined to bring the next generation of advisers into the profession.

Over the past year, the firm has offered work experience to local school students, partnered with Leeds University Business School, and presented in schools about the importance of understanding finance basics and careers in finance. It has also been working with the Ahead Partnership to provide careers support and guidance to schools in disadvantaged areas of Yorkshire.

Berry & Oak was an early adopter of The Verve Foundation’s We Are Change initiative. It donated more than £2,000 to help a candidate from outside the profession achieve their diploma.

The firm invests in its team and encourages them to develop through professional qualifications and alternative skills. This year the firm is working with an outsourced provider to deliver bespoke cybersecurity and awareness training.
