Equilibrium
Colin Lawson
Wilmslow, Cheshire

Equilibrium has a strong focus on climate. It recently established an ESG committee focusing on ensuring sustainability across the business. So far, initiatives have included plastic-free July and researching the possibility of installing solar panels and electric vehicle charging points at the Wilmslow office.

The firm, founded by Colin Lawson, currently uses 100% renewable energy and has been encouraging staff to use not Google but Ecosia, a search engine whose ad revenue is used to plant trees.

This environmental push has filtered through to clients with the launch of Positive Impact portfolios. Over the past year, 5% of clients’ money has been invested in funds with an ESG screen.

Charity is also a big part of the firm’s ethos and Equilibrium employs a philanthropy adviser to help clients make the most impactful decision when wanting to support charities. The Equilibrium Foundation has donated more than £600,000 to good causes and, with its educational programme Libby’s Big Aeroplane Adventure, has helped 3,500 children gain financial literacy skills.
