Shropshire’s Matrix Capital has made a clear shift in its business plan away from financial aspirations and onto more meaningful metrics. These include team morale, value delivered to clients, pro bono work, client feedback, recommendations from clients and professional connections, reputation and technical capability.

It is part of a drive, led by managing director Robin Melley, to operate more efficiently, improve client outcomes, increase technical capability and evolve the business into a sustainable financial planning practice.

One example of this is designing and implementing workflow templates that automatically pre-populate each team member’s task list with the right tasks in the correct order and at the right time.

It has also created a due diligence document to present its services to private client lawyers and encourage collaborative professional work to achieve better outcomes for clients. This is creating new and more meaningful professional relationships with legal firms, which is then increasing the flow of referrals both ways.
