It is a case of seven virtuous values for Matthew Douglas as it has set in stone the ethics at the heart of the company – being positive, responsible, supportive, pragmatic, empathetic and respectful and taking ownership.

Staff numbers ticked up to 16 as it grew its support team. Two trainees were promoted to advisers, taking fee earners to 10, including managing director Matthew Pescott Frost.

Funds under advice grew by £30m to £300m and the company now has its sights set on a goal of £1bn. One initiative designed to help towards that is the launch of a project to build five portfolios with the help of a discretionary fund manager.

A team bonus was introduced for all roles based on new business with a compliance hurdle.

Paying for each member of staff to have four sessions with a local therapist proved popular, with 40% of employees, including two directors, taking up the offer.
