Pavis Financial Management has been serving clients in the Northwest for more than 30 years but this year was a watershed moment for the firm: the business was sold to private equity-backed Verso Wealth Management, with designs on a national rollout.

Importantly for Pavis, it has retained and even increased staff numbers, from 24 to 25, while being able to resolve its ageing majority shareholder dilemma. Managing director Quentin McCormick has also remained with the business.

The firm has redesigned its website and created a new company brochure to convey its strengths to prospective clients. It also engaged with Adam Owen, a former president of the Personal Finance Society, to help its trainee and newer advisers develop the soft skills needed to build rapport with clients.

Pavis moved its back-office system to Curo and grew client numbers by 50 to 650. Funds under advice rose by £30m to £280m.
